Avoid These Top 5 Waxing Mistakes

Want gorgeously smooth results? Then avoid these 5 waxing pitfalls.
1// NOT KNOWING WHEN TO WAX- For two days you’ve been envisioning yourself as smooth as a dolphin happily swimming the Hawaiian coast. Your starter kit was just delivered (thanks Amazon Prime) and you immediately bust it out, plug in your warmer, read through the manual, melt your beads, slap some wax on, but when you pull the wax off your disappointed to see that same stubble. Slow ya’ roll! Waxing hair that is too short is by far THE biggest mistake. Waxing leaves your skin ultra-smooth by pulling the hair from the root. However, if your hair isn’t long enough for the wax to grab , you will be sorely disappointed with the results. Your hair needs to be at least 1/4 an inch long to wax effectively. That’s the size of a grain of rice. Just wait, you’ll be happy you did.
2// USING WAX THAT’S TOO COLD – Maintain a temperature warm enough to effectively shrink wrap those pesky hairs. The wax should spread evenly and smoothly across the skin. WARNING! Always use caution and remember to test the temperature on the inside of your wrist first. If the wax is so runny that it’s dripping off the spatula, it’s just way too hot. We find it’s best to heat high to melt and then turn heat lower till wax is the consistency of honey. Your waxing sessions will go a lot easier and faster once you discover the right consistency and temperature for your wax. Most users get the hang of this after just a few tries.
3// NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO THE PATTERN OF YOUR HAIRS GROWTH- You already know to apply the wax in the direction of your hair growth and then remove it in the opposite direction (against the hair growth). Ok, great! That’s easy enough on your arms, legs, or brows. But are you really paying attention to your hair’s growth pattern? Sometimes hair grows in multiple directions, especially facial hair, underarms, and the bikini line. Try a second application while applying the wax in an alternate direction. If hair remains after 2-3 passes it’s best to clean up with tweezers. Even the pros need to use tweezers occasionally.
4// NOT USING A FIRM HAND– You know your hair is long enough for waxing but your noticing a lot of hair being left behind. Chances are you're not using enough pressure with the spatula. Use a 45 degree angle and don’t be afraid to put a little oomph info it!
5// HAVING UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS– So you started your keto diet 12 hours ago and your still not seeing your abs! Ha, we’ve all had them, unrealistic expectations. Waxing is a fantastic way to achieve smooth skin with lasting results but you may need to give it a little practice before you feel confident in your new learned skill set. We highly suggest practicing with any larger body area, like your arms or legs to get the hang of it before moving on to more sensitive areas or your face.
BONUS// Don’t forget to use our CLEAN pre wax oil so you’re free of any sweat, lotion, or body oils. Ensure your skin is completely dry before waxing.
